Hello Edgar & all,
In light of our earlier phone call, Edgar, I would like to go ahead and cut any problems that may arise off at the pass. Please understand that Camilla is in a very upsetting position right now, and as I am sure all of you can imagine, would only be further kicked while she is down if you and the goon squad decide to cut her from the film when there is, truly, no reason. There is no publicity we could not spin in a positive manner during press, and you know as well as I do that she's a pro - if anyone were to break stipulations that the hack not be brought up in any capacity, she'd be able to pivot to another question quite spectacularly.
Furthermore, let's imagine the media frenzy, shall we? A sweet, pretty young actress has her privacy violated - because, of course, these were things that were meant to stay private, and that is not her fault, but the fault of multiple men currently under investigation by the FBI - and her personal life picked to pieces as a result. She garners sympathy; she made a mistake a year ago she has since moved on from, and the fact it is dragged up again on top of the undeniably painful emails that paint a wildly unflattering picture of her mother is more than enough to have most of the industry rally behind her in support. Would you like to tell the masses that you are so cruel that you would boot her from your film purely because you're concerned that the rest of the world has watched her fuck her boyfriend?
I would like to further remind you that we have a contract, one that I am happy to get Camilla's lawyers involved with if you are truly seeking to push back on it. (Though I do not remember any sort of clause that allows you the ability to axe her simply because you're feeling a bit cruel.) I will allow Camilla to depart this project only of her own volition, should she choose to, not because a few old white men who have an incredibly overinflated sense of selves are made uncomfortable by a violation of privacy. She did nothing wrong. She is an adult with a serious boyfriend and a healthy sex life. Imagine for instance, Tim, that this was Daisy - would you take kindly to someone dropping her from a project simply because of a few hackers?
We ask that you please have some compassion during this incredibly trying time.
Besides, the film won't even come out until 2020. If you think people will still be chattering about it then, you're even more delusional than I first thought.
